Cuz'ns Come To Town: Part I
So this is a two week cousin adventure presented in a montage. A picture tells a thousand words, but here is the run down. All flights to Istanbul converge on April 3rd.... Now we are 7. A family style apartment accommodated all of us. It was just down the hill from Taksim towards the Bosphorus and it was perfect! We were in Istanbul for 4 days. We hit the Modern Art Museum and
walk to Golden Horn for etmek balik (fish sandwich) under the bridge.
First stopping at the Yenni Mosque before taking the Metro up to Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the center of Roman Empire. Then a beer and relax before walking back to bridge. We hopped on the Tunel up to Tunel for dinner and walk down the Taksim strip towards our apartment for night cap. Phew what a day!!
Day 2
Metro to Topkapı
Palace, and into the Harem for a little how do ya do. Walking back down to the Golden Horn we strolled through the park before venturing into the the Covered Pazaar. We walked the back streets up to Nuruosmaniye Mosque just in time for the call to prayer. Working our way back to the Bosphorus and up to Tunel for dinner and a late night purchase of balkava!
Day 3
At 10 am the boat heads out for a cruise north on the Bosphorus Straight, passing all the sights and finally stopping at Anadolu Kavagi, for a late lunch. Returning to Eminonu we hit the spice market and ate a little çığ kofte from a street vender. As we walked back accross the bridge we stopped for a beer on the bridge as the sunset.
....and the cuz'n adventure continues for
tomorrow we fly to Izmir for more advanture!
